No more appointments for COVID vaccines are available, says ADPH; waiting list offered

The Alabama Department of Public Health said that all vaccination appointments for COVID-19 through county health departments are full.

ADPH “is aware that the COVID-19: 1-855-566-5333 vaccine hotline is experiencing difficulties. The team continues to work to expand vaccine scheduling capabilities in the call center, ”said the agency in an advertisement. “There are currently no more consultations available in the county’s health departments.”

People who call the vaccine hotline can provide their information to be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted as soon as more consultations are available.

ADPH said that demand for COVID-19 continues to exceed supply with more than 326,000 healthcare professionals and almost 350,000 people in Alabama who qualify for the vaccine because they are 75 or older.

Alabama received 271,925 doses of vaccine and, in the week ending January 9, administered 87,138.

ADPH launched the COVID vaccination hotline last week and was quickly overwhelmed with calls, receiving more than 1.1 million in 24 hours. Online registration is under development, but is not yet available.
