The best smart home technology from CES 2021

Going virtual for a big program like CES 2021 was certainly an experience unlike any other, but for the smart home, the focus was on exactly what we expected – cleanliness, contactless experiences, keeping the home organized and safe. Although CES 2021 didn’t have as many established smart home brands, there were still many interesting gadgets advertised with the goal of making the home more connected than ever. Our smart home team here at Digital Trends debated and subsequently voted for the best smart home technology at CES 2021, and here’s what we selected.

Samsung Jetbot 90 AI +

Our choice for the best new robot vacuum cleaner from CES 2021 is the Samsung Jetbot 90 AI +. More than just an ordinary robot vacuum cleaner, it is smarter when it comes to avoiding the uncomfortable clutter that can trip over other robots. It also acts as a security guard when you are away.

This tank-like robot vacuum cleaner not only has 30 watts of suction power, courtesy of its Jet Cyclone system to ensure the floor is free of dirt and debris, but has an automatic disposal system that empties the contents of your can of trash on your Clean Station base. This means less physical alienations on your part.

Its built-in camera and AI-enhanced object recognition technology allow the Samsung Jetbot 90 AI + to detect objects in its cleaning path and avoid them. Handles, pet bowls and other messes won’t knock this robot down. Finally, the integrated camera can be accessed remotely via a mobile application, giving users an overview of what is happening at home, if they are away. For Samsung, it is a tremendous effort, given previous robot vacuum cleaners.

There were several home fitness fitness monitors connected to show up last year, but the NordicTrack Vault is one to watch because of how much of a gym experience you put together in one piece of equipment. Presented at CES 2021, NordicTrack Vault may look similar to Lululemon’s Mirror, but it distinguishes itself by storing all the dumbbells, kettlebells and resistance bands to give you that complete gym workout at home.

With its mirrored finish, you’ll be able to look at yourself during your workouts to make sure you’re in shape – while receiving instructions from instructors on your 32-inch HD swivel touch screen. The design discreetly stores the handful of accessories that come with it, such as kettlebells and yoga pads.

As more people join this trend of exercising at home, Vault is a practical solution that will help keep them in shape during strength and cardio exercises with iFit technology.
