Warning: this article contains spoilers about The masked dancer season 1, episode 3.

The masked dancer so far it has revealed an attractive array of famous faces, with Ice-T revealed in the premiere and Bill Nye unmasked in the last episode. The show continued the tradition with the Group B playoffs on Wednesday, with Moth eliminated – and you will never guess who was under his wing.

We started the episode with a rare sighting: speaker Ken Jeong wearing a crown and being celebrated for his correct guess. Last week, he was the only one to predict that Ice Cube was the beloved science educator, a feat that the comedian (hopefully) said would outperform “my wife and my two children”.

He was joined by Paula Abdul, Ashley Tisdale, Brian Austin Green and guest Cheryl Hines at the speakers’ table, while Craig Robinson once again served as host.

The first to enter the dance floor was Zebra, who did a duet with K-Ci & JoJo’s classic R&B track, “All My Life”. UFC tracks, orientation and record-breaking led speakers to guess all kinds of people, from Floyd Mayweather to Tito Ortiz.

“He has a very big neck,” said Green about the similarity between Ortiz and Zebra.

Defending Mario Lopez, argued Tisdale, “Latinos know how to push very well.”

I cannot argue against such rigid reasoning!

Next came Cotton Candy, who performed in a group with the very appropriate “Sour Candy” by Lady Gaga and Blackpink. The competitor showed some impressive moves in the last episode – especially considering that she suffered a sharp drop during rehearsals – and she continued to impress this time. I felt an affinity with the non-dancer speakers, who praised the steps of Cotton Candy with terms from experts like “twirl” and “stretched leg move your ass”.

Her package included lipstick, the phrase “ice cream” and an eagle with a US brooch, leading Tisdale to assume that she was Tara Lipinski. Meanwhile, Green leaned towards another Olympic figure skater, Kristi Yamaguchi.

Mariposa took a step towards Michael Buble’s version of “Sway”.

Then, Sloth ended the night with a dance of tapes to the sound of “Up Where We Belong”, by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes. In his pack of clues, we saw Preguiça recreating the boombox scene of Say anything, as well as the track “00FEEd00.”

The furry competitor, who once again exhibited his physical comedy talent, was considered by speakers such as Jonathan Groff, Keegan-Michael Key or Will Ferrell, who actually spun with tapes in the film Old fashion.

Robinson announced that Moth obtained the least amount of votes from the public, speakers and “superfans” across the country.

She turned out to be … child safety activist and New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Smart!

Green was the only speaker who guessed Smart, as he said he was passionate about working with child safety organizations. As Moth stated in his packet of tips, Smart gave a lecture Ted, has connections to the letters EAS and BYU (his initials; she is a former student at Brigham Young University) and appeared in Dateline (the dates in a linear image).

“You were an inspiration to so many people. And you did very well in a really difficult situation. We need more people like you on the planet,” said Green to Smart, who survived a kidnapping in 2002 that gained national attention and went to work. as an advocate for victims of sexual abuse after their disclosure.

Next week, Group A’s Shark, Tulip, Cricket and Exotic Bird will fight to see who will join Zebra, Cotton Candy and Sloth in the Super Six.
