CD Projekt Red co-founder apologizes for the sorry state of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’

Iwiński went on to explain, from his perspective, how the game was released with so many bugs on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that it was often impossible to play. A week after the game’s release date, Sony removed it entirely from the PlayStation Store and offered a refund to anyone who wanted it. Microsoft has also offered refunds to impaired Xbox players, and CD Projekt Red is facing legal action for allegations that it has misled investors and players.

In the video, Iwiński essentially said that the team was very ambitious with the PC edition of the game, which served as the basis for the console version and proved to be very laborious for eighth generation hardware. The in-game streaming system was a constant headache for the console team, and developers lost a ton of flaws when testing its various versions, according to Iwiński.

Along with the apology video, CD Projekt Red presented a written version of Iwiński’s statements as a series of frequently asked questions, and also shared that the free update to the game’s next generation console will arrive in the second half of 2021.
