Publix expands COVID-19 vaccinations to more than 100 pharmacies

After an initial allocation to 22 pharmacies, Publix Super Markets implemented the coronavirus vaccine in 105 pharmacies in 12 counties in Florida.

Publix yesterday expanded its distribution of the Modern COVID-19 vaccine to Collier, Flagler, St. Johns and Volusia counties, with vaccinations starting tomorrow, January 14. According to the guidelines of Florida health authorities, immunization is currently available only to health care workers, residents and employees in long-term care facilities and people aged 65 and over.

Publix, based in Lakeland, Fla., Said the increase in allocation comes after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched additional doses of the vaccine. The company noted that it is continuing negotiations with Florida and the other six states in its southeastern operating area to supply COVID-19 vaccines through its pharmacies.

“For 90 years, Publix has served its customers and communities in times of need,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a statement. “Our ability to provide these vaccines to Florida’s 65-year-olds and older is a privilege. We are grateful to Governor DeSantis for his willingness to work with us to serve our communities. “
