First major update of Cyberpunk 2077 in the next 10 days

After the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red says it will launch the first update in the next 10 days, with “a major and more significant update in the weeks to come”. In a video released today, co-founder Marcin Iwinski made a mea culpa to the players, adding that he and the board makers are “the final decision makers” for the defective launch of the game. “Please don’t blame any of our teams for what happened,” said Iwinski.

In the five-minute video, Iwinksi said that “despite good reviews on the PC, the console version of Cyberpunk 2077 did not meet the quality standard we wanted. The entire leadership team and I deeply regret this. ”Iwinksi continued to point to the game’s enormous scope and the developer’s serious underestimations of how much work it would take to match the vision with reality. “We really believe that we would deliver in the last few days,” he said.

On its website, CD Projekt Red raised its concerns in a FAQ. In response to the quality gap between the PC version of the game and previous generation consoles, the developer said that this made the job “more difficult for ourselves, first wanting to make the game look epic on PCs and then adjusting it to the consoles – especially old -gene. That was our basic premise. And things didn’t seem too difficult at first, although we knew about the hardware gap, in the end, time proved that we underestimated the task. “

Moving forward, CD Projekt Red says it is “committed to fixing bugs and crashes and will continue to work and improve the game through future updates to ensure that you are enjoying the game regardless of the platform”. This work will apparently impact the game’s free DLC, planned for release this year, too. “We decided that our priority is to work on the most important fixes and updates. We will be launching free DLC later – we will have more to say about it in the coming months.

In December, shortly after the game’s launch, Sony withdrew Cyberpunk PlayStation Store and started offering refunds. “We’re working on fixes and updates, and we’re working with Sony to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible, ”wrote CD Projekt Red.
