We covered Asus’s announcement of the 32-inch ROG Swift PG32UQ earlier this week as part of CES 2021, but the company has waited until now to reveal more monitors with HDMI 2.1 ports.
Basically, these are the screens you want if you have a high-end PC, PS5 or Xbox Series X so you can see the gameplay in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second. They are very important if you really want to let your hardware rip, which is why we cover monitors and TVs closely with the HDMI 2.1 ports needed to achieve cutting-edge resolution and performance balance.
Starting with what is likely to be the most expensive option (although Asus has not shared a price), the 43-inch ROG Strix XG43UQ is shown above. This model has a 4K VA type display with 144 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time. With its Display Stream Compression (DSC) feature, we must be able to display that full 4K 144 Hz through its DisplayPort, as the ROG Swift PG32UQ can.
This model has two HDMI 2.1 ports with support for FreeSync Premium Pro, variable refresh rate (VRR) and automatic low latency mode (ALLM). There are also two HDMI 2.0 ports. This panel features HDR1000 and covers 90 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

On the TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A, it is a 28-inch 4K IPS screen that also achieves a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a response time of 1 ms. It has HDR400, which will be much less shiny than the model above, and covers 90 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Asus says it has support for VRR.
I would show you a photo of the screen itself, but Asus thought it appropriate to send us only pictures of your back. Let’s just trust that it does, in fact, have a screen. This model has two HDMI 2.1 ports and two HDMI 2.0 ports, next to a DisplayPort 1.4 that must be able to send 4K at a 144Hz refresh rate.
Asus says that these monitors will be launched in the second quarter of 2021, which is the overall time interval that we provide for most of these HDMI 2.1 compatible game monitors.

If you are not interested in boarding the HDMI 2.1 train, Asus has yet another monitor for those interested in high frame rates at stable resolutions. It’s the ROG Swift PG279QM, a 27 inch 1440p IPS panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time and HDMI 2.0 ports. It will support HDR400 with 95 percent of the covered DCI-P3 color space.
Asus says this monitor features Nvidia’s G-Sync processor and Reflex Latency Analyzer technology to determine the latency of its accessories. It will be launched in the second quarter of 2021, and no price has been shared so far.
