The next Xbox and exclusive PC from Bloober Team O Medium is scheduled to be released later this month, and the developer has released an entirely new trailer to showcase the game’s use of NVIDIA RTX technology. At launch, the game will use technology on the PC and Microsoft DirectX Raytracing on the console. Although most Xbox Series X games | S are also released on Xbox One, The medium it will only be available on both of Microsoft’s next generation systems. The game’s new trailer certainly gives viewers an idea of why this happens, with an impressive use of raytracing. Fans of the survival horror genre will definitely want to keep an eye on this game when it comes out!
The new trailer can be found embedded below.
The reflections seen in the trailer above really show what the game will bring to the table! From the way the light bounces off the walls and floor, to the reflections in the glass boxes and photo frames, there is an incredible sense of atmosphere throughout the small trailer. While the leap in technology from the previous generation of the console to the new is not as significant as previous generation changes, raytracing should make a big difference in the way developers can bring a world to life in their games.
Of course, survival horror games have always stood out in creating tension through the use of the atmosphere. Previous Bloober Team games have done just that with less impressive visuals, so it will be interesting to see what kind of difference more powerful hardware will make. Clearly, the developer is looking for ways to really make use of the latest technology.
For those who don’t know the Bloober team, the developer has worked on games like Layers of fear, Observerand Blair witch. The Polish-based studio clearly has a knack for creating scary games, and The medium it seems to be no exception. Whether or not the game will be able to deliver an experience that matches the studio’s legacy, however, remains to be seen!
The medium is set to be released exclusively on the Xbox Series X | S and PC on January 28. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
