Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., accessed Instagram on Tuesday night and suggested that southern states need to be “released”.
During a live broadcast of more than an hour on Capitol disturbances and ongoing efforts to impeach President Trump, the progressive lawmaker reiterated her call to Republican senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to resign or be expelled by Democratic opponents for leading the opposition in certifying the victory of President-elect Biden.
She then pointed to the grassroots “multi-racial” and “multicultural” organization in Georgia that prompted Democrats to take control of the Senate as a sign that “southern states are not red states, they are suppressed states”.
