Seahawks part ways with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer

Brian Schottenheimer once again exceeded his welcome.

The Seahawks dismissed Schottenheimer, the team’s offensive coordinator for three seasons on Tuesday, after Seattle’s 30-20 wild card loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday.

Schottenheimer, 47, was also the offensive coordinator for the 2006-2011 Jets and commanded the 2012-14 Rams attack while they were in St. Louis. Schottenheimer, who was also Georgia’s offensive coordinator in 2015 and was the Colts’ quarterback coach during the 2016 and 17 seasons, joined the Seahawks in 2018.

“Brian Schottenheimer is a fantastic person and trainer and we have been grateful to him for the past three years,” posted the Seahawks on your Twitter account. “Citing philosophical differences, we split up.”

These “philosophical differences” may have occurred with coach Pete Caroll, Russel Wilson and the great receiver DK Metcalf, who was visibly upset on the sides sometimes during Saturday’s defeat.

Wilson, who completed just 11 passes in defeat, did not give much of an endorsement to the offensive plan after the game. The Seahawks were also kept in a low season of 278 yards.

“We needed to go there,” Wilson told the Seattle Times. “In a way, the game seemed obsolete to us – we kind of stagnated. We needed to go ahead and make it happen. And the next thing you know, we didn’t. “

Carroll also didn’t rush to Schottenheimer’s defense after the defeat, saying that he would have liked the attack to “have better adapted” to the way the opposing team’s defenses played them in the second half of the season, according to the Seattle Times.

Carroll also said that he would like the Seahawks to race more next year and, according to the NFL Network, the team is considering interviewing Shane Steichen, who was the offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers last season.
