South Carolina’s new football coach, Shane Beamer, finally completed his team, appointing former Western Kentucky defensive coordinator Clayton White to the same position and hiring Marshall Day Luke as strength and conditioning coach, with rumors of addition as a cornerback coach.
White, who is considered a promising candidate, had a four-year term with the Hilltoppers and was a finalist for Frank Broyles – the award given to the best assistant in college football – in 2017, 2019 and 2020. In the past In the season, the defense of WKU finished 28th in total defense, including eighth nationally in defense of passes, allowing only 177.3 yards per game. Hilltoppers was also third with 68 defending passes and scored three defensive touchdowns. In addition, White is from North Carolina and therefore probably has many ties to the region.

Beamer is also supposedly hiring Florida cornerback coach Torrian Gray, although this has not been made official.
