Why a real meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan might not happen

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not have a real meeting right after all – with a source close to the couple calling it “a little smug” to assume that they will fly home on Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to be returning home from California after it was reported that they were invited to attend Trooping of the Color, the Queen’s annual birthday parade, on June 12 in London.

The queen – who will be 95 years old – said she wanted as many royalty as possible at the event, which is the first national celebration in the UK since the pandemic began.

However, a source close to the couple was quick to shake them off from previous reports that said they had “returned” to “many family events,” said the Telegraph.

“It is a little presumptuous for any of us to speculate on whether we can travel anywhere this summer,” the source told the UK newspaper.

The supposed meeting would have taken place more than a year after the Duke and Duchess met with the other members of royalty. The couple’s last public appearance in the UK before “Megxit” was in March last year.

Britain is currently under a strict blockade – even banning different families from socializing – and a final decision on the Color Troop parade will be made in the spring, the Telegraph said.

Markle was also due to fly to the UK for her ongoing lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday newspaper for printing her letter to her father when he refused to attend the royal wedding.

That trip was also postponed, however, with the trial suspended until autumn, according to the report.
