SAVANNAH, Georgia (WTOC) – Georgia and South Carolina are among the slowest states in the country when it comes to putting the COVID-19 vaccine in people’s arms.
Georgia is just above Arkansas, and South Carolina is the fifth slowest state, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data tracker COVID.
The state of Peach administered only 18.5% of the 770,625 vaccines it received. Another way to see the numbers is the rate at which they are administered. Georgia ranks last when it comes to the vaccination rate: 1,346 vaccines per 100,000 people, according to CDC data.
Only Arkansas is slower at 16%; although the rate is slightly better than that of Georgia, with 1,355 per 100,000 people.
South Carolina administered 25% of its 311,950 vaccines. The fee is 1,535 per 100,000, according to the CDC.
The highest ranking entity is the Bureau of Prisons, with 87 percent of the 16,050 vaccines administered. The highest ranked state is North Dakota, with 73 percent.
