The New Orleans Saints received some reaction on social media on Sunday, ahead of their wild card playoff game, after deleting a tweet that showed Drew Brees wearing a “#SayHerName” shirt.
Brees and his Saints teammates wore the shirt throughout the season in support of obtaining justice for Breonna Taylor, who was killed during a police operation in Kentucky in March.

Brees’s photo was tweeted by the Saints and caused some believe he was supporting a woman who was killed by police in Washington, DC, when a violent mob broke into the US Capitol on Wednesday.
New Orleans deleted the tweet and posted another one showing the defensive back Malcolm Jenkins with the same shirt along with an explanation of why they were wearing the shirts. Jenkins has been one of the NFL’s greatest voices in the fight for social justice. It is not clear why the Saints deleted the original tweet in the first place.

Brees created a storm during the summer, when he said that players should represent the national anthem.
Brees told Yahoo Finance in June that he would “never agree” with anyone who would kneel during the national anthem. NFL players vowed to protest in some way during the season to draw attention to police brutality and social injustice in the United States after George Floyd’s death on May 25, while in police custody in Minneapolis.
His comments were sharply rebuked by several players, including their own teammates.
