Man with ties in Lee County is arrested after being seen with electronic ties during US Capitol riots

LEE COUNTY, Florida – A man seen carrying ties during US Capitol riots was arrested Sunday in Tennessee.

Eric Munchel has ties to Lee County as a former employee of Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille. The restaurant confirmed that he had been an employee for more than two years.

The restaurant also said that they have no affiliation with Munchel.

Munchel was charged with an accusation of intentionally entering or staying in any restricted building or land without legal authority and an accusation of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to the Justice Department.

Munchel is alleged to have been inside the Capitol on January 6 during the unrest, the DOJ said. Pictures showing his presence show a person who appears to be Munchel carrying ties, an item in a holster on his right hip and a cell phone mounted on his chest with the camera facing outward.

He was charged alongside another Texan named Larry Brock, who has the same charges, the DOJ confirmed.

The FBI is looking for people who may have incited or promoted violence of any kind. Anyone with digital material or tips can call 1-800-CALL-FBI or send images or videos here.
