A line of special black PlayStation 5 consoles has been canceled, with most buyers getting a full refund via PayPal after retailer SUP3R5 received “credible threats”, according to TechRadar.

“Last night, our team started receiving credible threats to your security,” tweeted SUP3R5 before deactivating his Twitter account. “We take these threats seriously. We are not willing to risk the safety and well-being of our team or the potential impact this would have on your order.”

SUP3R5 did not elaborate on these threats, or because they were sufficient to force the cancellation.

“All existing orders will be canceled and fully refunded in the next few days,” continued SUP3R5. “Our intention was that it was a fun way to celebrate shared nostalgia. It turns out that there are people out there who are willing to interfere with that.”

As stated, some users have begun to receive a full refund, while others are still waiting. Some are looking at delete your payment information on the SUP3R5 website, but are unable to do so.

SUP3R5 was trying to fill a niche. Some PlayStation 5 owners regretted Sony’s choice of color when the system was launched. After a line of black consoles, Sony decided to switch to white. Buyers regretted the fact that there was no black alternative to “match” with the other consoles in their collection.

SUP3R5 saw an opening in the market for a classic black PlayStation 5 with colors like the PlayStation 2. The “Retro Inspired PlayStation 5 Console” was pre-sold for around $ 649, limited to 304 units. The fall sold out quickly, with a projected spring release.

The buying process itself was fraught with problems, however. Inventory problems prevented buyers from locking their systems. Others have not received confirmation that their purchases have been approved. Rejected buyers still report problems, as SUP3R5 appears to be diminishing its online presence.

It is not clear whether this particular line will return or whether SUP3R5 ended with PS5 forever. “If we determine that it is safe to try again, we will,” wrote SUP3R5 in a now-deleted statement. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
