Sony has “retired” its official Killzone franchise website, and anyone who clicks on the website will now be taken to the generic PlayStation website.

If someone goes to the Guerrilla Games official Death zone website, they will only receive a message from Sony and a redirect to PlayStation.com.

“The Killzone franchise’s official website has retired,” Guerrilla said in a statement on the newly emptied website. “We apologize for this inconvenience. […] Thanks to the many Killzone.com fans and visitors over the years for their enthusiasm and support. “

Seven years after the last game in the series hits the shelves, it looks like Sony is ready to leave the series for now.

After all, developer Guerrilla Games is very busy. Between the great success of Horizon Zero Dawn and the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, the studio is undoubtedly justified in moving away from the franchise for now.

It is important to note that removing the site will have some impact on the online elements of the two most recent games in the series, although the multiplayer itself is not affected.

“While this change does not affect online multiplayer modes, player statistics or ranking data for Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall, it is now no longer possible to create or manage clans in Killzone Shadow Fall,” says the message on the website.

Once upon a time, Killzone was a flagship brand for the PlayStation and enjoyed releases on the PS2, PS3, PS4 and portable PlayStation consoles.

Sony has made no official statement about the future of the brand, but at the time of writing, no future Killzone project has been formally announced.
