The cover of the next February issue of Vogue, which features elected vice president Kamala Harris, has been widely criticized on social media.
Some fans of the future VP are claiming that Harris looks faded in the photo, while others say the style of the cover doesn’t give her the respect she deserves.
And some say it is just bad.
“What a mess. [Editor-in-Chief] Anna Wintour really shouldn’t have black friends and colleagues, “wrote author Wajahat Ali.
“Kamala Harris’s skin is as clear as women of color arrive and Vogue has spoiled its lighting yet. What’s the faded mess of a cape?” Twitter user E. Vaughan said.

She added: “Vogue knows that Kamala Harris loves her sisterhood, suits, comfortable pants and chuck taylors. So they put it all together for the cover. Only they couldn’t decide if she would go to a luxurious French salon, the floor Senate, or take a run. ”

User MVP Harris said the cover proves it’s time for Wintour, 71, to step down as Vogue editor.
“If the only time your team can properly style a black woman is when she is covered in haute couture, then her term has run the full course. See how Kamala Harris’ Elle covers the full-bodied Vogue. Electric chair!”
“People who don’t understand why VP-elected VP Kamala Harris’s cover is bad are missing the point,” tweeted activist Charlotte Clymer. “The photo itself isn’t as terrible as a photo. It’s just very, very below Vogue standards. They didn’t think about it. How the homework ended the next morning. Disrespectful.”
“Vogue put Kamala Harris in a fucking Converse. Someone needs to throw a concrete block at Anna Wintour fr,” said user miss mullet.
However, it was not hated by everyone.
A Twitter user said he spoke to his generation. “I had a pair of @Converse in high school! # 1984 now this is # BRAND #GENZ WANTS!” She added that it is an example of realistic fashion.
The cover was not the one Harris’s team expected to be used, according to a source familiar with the publication, tweeted New York magazine contributor Yashar Ali.

“On the cover they expected, Vice President-elect Harris wore a light blue suit. That was the cover that the Vice President-elect team and the Vogue team, including Anna Wintour, mutually agreed to … which is standard for fashion magazines, “added Ali.
He said it meant that someone changed the cover without informing Harris’s team.
Harris did not comment on the cover.
