R. Kelly broke his silence by sharing one of his successes while in prison on his birthday.
The R&B artist is in jail in Chicago, awaiting trial on charges of sexual crimes involving underage women and girls. Kelly’s time behind bars was not enough to stop him from mentioning his 2011 song “Shut Up”, which seems to be a reference to his current legal problems.

A clip of the song was posted to her official Instagram account on her 54th birthday, on January 8. A photo of Kelly holding several championship belts is the background image of the restored track.
“And even before the doctors finished and I could wake up / A tsunami of rumors came to sweep my career / After 22 years of a blessed career / He had me lying in my hospital bed crying crazy tears,” says Kelly’s song . “But just as I had a lot of people hating me, I had so many people loving me / And let’s not forget the hood around the world covering me.”
