South Carolina recruiting setback

Thursday turned out to be one of the busiest recruitment days in recent memory for South Carolina Gamecocks.

It was certainly the most action-packed stretch under Shane Beamer, who has been working for just over a month. The action started with a few transfers before ending with a commitment to the high school linebacker.

Frank Martin and the South Carolina men’s basketball team also got a late-night appointment. John Whittle of TheBigSpur had the story about Tre-Vaughn Minott.

Kolbe Fields, the third appointment of the day for Beamer, discussed his appointment in this interview. A set of VIP notes was published after Fields announced he was ready to accept the Gamecocks offer, which was sent the day before New Year’s Eve.

Fields, who is from Louisiana, was committed to Memphis when South Carolina offered. He was also committed to the state of Oklahoma at one point.

Delaware transfer linebacker Darryl Williams it was the second appointment of the day. The former 2020 recruit shared some of the plans he and SeaShawn Lloyd in mind for the SEC. Both are from the first state.

The first appointment of the day came from a defender transferred from Georgia to the south, connected to one of South Carolina’s running backs. David Spaulding played at school with Kevin Harris.

Before the start of the race for commitments, the 2022 four-star tight end Oscar Delp discussed his relationship with South Carolina coaches. Beamer and Erik Kimrey are teaming up to recruit Delp for Gamecocks.

There was a set of wide receiver recruitment notes to share on Wednesday. The night before, South Carolina’s former engagement Jahkeem Green told TheBigSpur that he had an offer from Gamecocks.

South Carolina recently added a commitment to a Heathwood Hall highlight, who will join the team as a walk-on linebacker. In addition, there were some important updates shared last Sunday in these recruiting notes.

Dutch Fork High School now has two wide receivers with an offer from South Carolina. One is a 2023 prospectus. The other is a 2022 guy who is the Gamecocks’ main target.

The 2021 South Carolina Gamecocks recruiting class is ranked 88th in the country, according to 247Sports. It was number 100 before Fields jumped on board.
