If the new year is looking forward to a new look for your home, but your wallet is not fully integrated with expensive upgrades, you’re in luck. Home renovation specialist Ty Pennington has kindly provided a handful of ideas on how you can spruce up your space without spending a fortune.
Speaking to the New York Post, Pennington offered this simple but striking tip for home decor: “Some of the little things really do have a huge effect.”
Pennington, who will host the next HGTV show Ty Breaker, revealed that giving a new touch to your home can be as easy as creating a personalized main entrance.
“I love to see anything that says, ‘This is who I am’, whether it’s hanging dance shoes or a cowboy hat on the wall,” said the carpenter / designer. “I like to … immediately feel their personality.”
If you’re feeling very skilled, Pennington has provided the New York Post with an ultra-creative way to make your own pillows.
“You can also take [colorful] blankets and sew them yourself on pillows, ”he said. “When you do something yourself, you have this euphoria of having created something that no one else has done – you did it and, at that moment, you are very proud.
Fans can expect a lot more expert knowledge from Pennington when Ty Breaker will air later this month. The HGTV program is a competitive home renovation series that will pit Pennington against another designer during each episode.
Ty Breaker is scheduled to air on Monday, January 11, at 9:00 pm ET on HGTV.
