This bond of brotherhood is difficult to break.
After several reports that Prince William and Prince Harry were at odds, the brothers are apparently working on their relationship at a distance after Harry’s move to California with his wife Meghan Markle and son Archie.
“There were phone and video calls during the Christmas and New Year holidays and the Sussexes sent gifts to the Cambridges and vice versa,” said royal expert Katie Nicholl to ET. “It was an opportunity in a very hectic and chaotic year for both families to come together and connect, albeit virtually.”
The pair has come a long way, since just last year, William reportedly refused to break bread with his brother during his infamous Sandringham Summit, where the whole family tried to solve the Megxit drama.
“Things are much better between William and Harry. If you go back a year at that stage, these brothers would hardly speak, ”recalls Nicholl. “When William went to the Sandringham Summit, he was very angry with his brother. He couldn’t even go to that lunch with the Queen. He only went to meetings, such was his frustration and disappointment with what his brother had done and how Harry was dealing with the situation.
“Today, the relationship is much better than before,” she continued. “To begin with, they are talking, and not just talking, they speak relatively regularly. They kept in touch a lot during the holidays, ”explains Nicholl. “But there is an ocean between them, there is a time difference and as Harry [has] said … they are two brothers on different paths. “
The brothers can meet in person this spring. It is likely that Harry will also make the trip home in July to honor his mother at the inauguration of a new statue of Princess Diana.
“The long-awaited statue tribute to Princess Diana will be inaugurated in the gardens of Kensington Palace on what would be her 60th birthday,” says Nicholl. “And it is Harry’s and Meghan’s intention to be here in the UK for this debut. It may be the first time that we have seen the brothers together, but I think we will probably see them together in the spring, around the celebrations of the birthday of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
