Congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., rejected Senator Lindsey Graham’s call to “move forward” with Wednesday’s unrest, arguing that the nation needed more responsibility first.
Graham, RS.C., criticized President Trump’s impeachment pressure as doing more harm than good.
“As president @realDonaldTrump stated last night, it’s time to heal and move on, “he said.” If President Pelosi pushes impeachment in the last days of Trump’s presidency, it will do more harm than good. I am hopeful that President-elect Biden will see the damage it could do. “
AFTER THE CAPITOL RICHES, 25TH AMENDMENT AND CALLS OF IMPEACHMENT OF AOC’S TRUMP AND OTHER DEMOCRATS
“‘Move on?'” Ocasio-Cortez asked on Twitter. “’Moving on’ does not mean ‘forgetting’, @LindseyGrahamSC. ‘Moving forward’ requires responsibility. Attacking our nation without recourse or responsibility is not ‘moving on’. A Capitol Police officer just died. Why are you defending this? “
Just before the Congresswoman’s response, Graham tweeted that all perpetrators should be punished.
DEMOCRATS MARK TOWARDS ANOTHER IMPEACHMENT AGAINST TRUMP FOR MORTAL MOTIVATION IN CAPITOL
“Tragic news that a US Capitol Police officer was killed by domestic terrorists while bravely defending our country’s capital,” he wrote.
And in a subsequent tweet he posted: “This officer gave his life in defense of our nation, and I hope and hope that the perpetrators are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez, his alleged squad of progressives and a number of other Democrats called for Trump’s impeachment and removal. Some also asked to expel the Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Ted Cruz, R-Texas and other Congressional Republicans for allegedly inciting the violence that occurred.
Representative Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Promised on Friday that President Trump would be impeached, tweeting that “justice will be done”.
After Wednesday’s events, several people died and dozens of police were injured. Trump and White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany condemned the violence on Thursday, but many blame the president’s statements about the election for the ensuing chaos.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., And Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., asked the Cabinet to remove Trump using the powers granted to him in the 25th Amendment – something Graham said that opposes.
