Alamodome turns into free mass vaccine site from Monday, says city

At present, state guidelines only allow people who fall into Phases 1A and 1B to receive the vaccine at Alamodome, San Antonio city officials announced in a press release on Friday.

Phase 1A includes frontline healthcare professionals and residents of long-term care facilities. Phase 1B includes people over 65 or people 16 and over with a chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for serious COVID-19 disease.

“The vaccination site in Alamodome is an important step in our struggle to eradicate the pandemic,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “This site will speed up the vaccination process and help us provide protection for San Antonio residents as quickly as possible.”

The site has the capacity to vaccinate around 1,500 people a day and will have face-to-face and drive-thru options.

Appointments are mandatory and can be made by visiting covid19.sanantonio.gov/vaccine or by calling 311 and selecting option 8. Registration will open on Saturday at 9am, the statement said. The Alamodome vaccine clinic will be available from Monday to Saturday, from 8 am to 8 pm

Parking will be available at the on-site South Parking Lot at 100 Montana St.
