Dave Creek – the main character designer for the famous cartoon series, Bob’s Burgers – died Thursday, January 7, of injuries sustained after a recent skydiving accident, according to a statement from the show’s producers, 20th Television, Fox Entertainment and Bento Box Entertainment. He was 42 years old.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic death of Dave Creek, an extraordinary artist who was with Bob burgers from the first day, ”said the statement. “He was not only an incredible talent, but also a beautiful person, and our hearts are with his family, friends and all of his fellow programmers who loved him and are suffering today.”
Creek graduated from the California Institute of the Arts and worked as a freelance animator until he was chosen to join the Bob burgers team. Creek has worked on the program since its debut in 2011, while her other credits include central Park (also co-created by Bouchard), Brickleberry, Happiness is a warm blanket, and Charlie Brown. Since 2015, he worked as an adjunct professor in the character animation department at Calarts.
Several members of the Bob burgers creative team shared tributes to Creek on social media. Director Simon Chong wrote on Twitter: “Today, tragically, we lost our main character designer and friend, Dave Creek. “A wonderfully brilliant and talented man who I can guarantee that he designed his favorite character in Bob’s at some point. I will miss you, friend x. “

Series creator Loren Bouchard shared a photo of Creek in Twitter While retweet a message supervising director Bernard Derriman: “We lost a great artist and a great friend in Bob’s today – our main character designer Dave Creek. Here is one of his many projects, Lady Tinsel, and one of his incredible tree houses. “
Wendy Molyneux, a writer on the series, wrote: “If you love Bob burgers, you loved Dave Creek. He was an adventurous, funny, outgoing, incredible artist and one of the most incredible and interesting people I have ever met. I often thought that Dave really knew how to live, and I would like him to live a little longer. Rest in peace, friend. “
