Shortly after being banned permanently from Twitter on Friday, President Trump used the official government account @POTUS to complain about the social media giant allegedly colluding with the “radical left” to silence him and the “patriots” “that support it. The tweets were removed almost immediately by Twitter, which had announced a few hours before the president’s personal account had been “permanently suspended” and warned that any attempt by him to escape this ban with government accounts would lead to further suspensions. An attempt to use the @TeamTrump account to complain to his followers was also overturned, with the account almost immediately suspended. While Trump was kicked off the platform for repeatedly using inflammatory rhetoric to irritate his supporters–even after his supporters started a violent Capitol rebellion that left five dead –his tweets now deleted from the @POTUS account continued on that line. “We will not be silenced! Twitter is not about FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION,” he wrote. Unfortunately for him, Twitter was not the only one to take a stand against incendiary content on Friday. Google Play also suspended Parler, a nursery of MAGA fanatics who left or were banned from Twitter. Apple would also have given Parler an ultimatum to moderate its content or be removed from the App Store.
