Sunny Hostin, the daytime announcer’s cohost In cash and ABC News’ senior legal correspondent, revealed this morning that her husband’s parents died three days apart due to complications from Covid-19.
Talking about In cash On Friday morning, Hostin said she was initially reluctant to reveal that her husband, surgeon Emmanuel Hostin, had suffered such a tragedy.
“Although I chose a very public career, as many of you know, those of you who know my husband, Manny, know that he is intensely private,” said Hostin. “But after talking to him, he felt that, from a public health perspective, it was very important for me to share that we are deeply saddened that Manny lost his parents over the holidays.”

Dr. A. Emmanuel died on December 28 at the age of 83, with mother-in-law Dr. Maria Jesus dying on New Year’s Day at the age of 78, said Hostin.
Hostin claimed to be “very careful” with preventive measures and even skipped Thanksgiving.
“After a lot of tracking of contacts, we still don’t know how they contracted this virus and this disease,” she said. However, they were able to “FaceTime with Manny’s parents while they were dying.”
Hostin thanked his co-workers on TV and the doctors who treated his in-laws.
