The beloved comedy rises to the top of the ranking from December 7 to 13, while ‘The Mandalorian’ rises to second place.
Netflix viewers had a good view of The office in one of its final weeks before the show was transferred to rival streamer Peacock.
The beloved comedy topped Nielsen’s streaming charts from December 7 to 13, with Netflix users in the United States watching 1.28 billion minutes of the show. This is the second highest total for The office in the four months of Nielsen’s weekly ranking, just behind the 1.31 billion minutes of the previous week (when it finished third).
The office has been in the top 10 of Nielsen’s streaming chart every week from August 3 to 9. He left Netflix on January 1 and is now broadcasting exclusively on Peacock – which is not yet included in the Nielsen ranking.
The Mandalorian finished second in the week, with 1.04 billion minutes of viewing on Disney +. O Star Wars the series also established a new brand by spending its seventh consecutive week in the top 10; its penultimate episode of the second season debuted on December 11th.
The two main programs from the previous week, Netflix Virgin river and The crown, fell to third and fourth place between 7 and 13 December. The only new original entry was the Netflix animated series Big mouth (622 million minutes), whose fourth season premiered on December 4. Drama Manhunt: Deadly Games, which aired for the first time on Spectrum Originals and then had a second, slightly watched showing on CBS in the fall, had a big boost with its debut on Netflix, ending in fifth place with 827 million minutes of watch time.
The streaming platforms claim that Nielsen’s methodology does not capture the full scope of viewing on devices other than televisions. Nielsen also measures only US audiences, not those in other countries.
