Gamecocks postpone the next game due to pandemic requirements

South Carolina men’s basketball was forced to postpone their second game at the conference due to a “combination of positive tests, contact tracking and subsequent quarantine. “The news came out on Thursday night, postponing Saturday’s road competition with Ole Miss.

Gamecocks (3-2, 1-0) are just two games removed from a three-week break from activity in December. They defeated Florida A&M on Saturday afternoon and defeated Texas A&M in their SEC debut on Wednesday night. Against the Aggies, they had nine of the 12 fellows available, missing guard TJ Moss and strikers Keyshawn Bryant and Alanzo Frink. Junior guard AJ Lawson led the team in scoring with a career record of 30 points in the 78-54 victory.

This news of men’s basketball arrives on the same day as women’s basketball Gamecock program press the pause button on the team activity. The two teams share the same practice facility at the Carolina Coliseum.

Frank Martin’s team now faces its third “postponed” game when the Ole Miss contest joins Clemson (December 19) and Kentucky (December 29). Martin has already stated that the Clemson game is unlikely to happen, as SEC disputes at this time of year are more of a priority. They now face the challenge of two postponed conference games. The canceled games were Wofford (10 December), George Washington (19 December) and SC State (23 December).
