Silly, friend going to the plains

South Carolina Football Coach Shane Beamer appeared to have a full offensive team earlier this week with the hiring of Justin Stepp. Now, he may be looking for two new offensive team members and have four total vacancies on his team, according to this report from FootballScoop.com.

The report says that the offensive coordinator Mike Bobo along with the offensive lineman Will be friend are expected to accept the same roles at Auburn under their first year coach Bryan Harsin, who accepted the job at The Plains after seven years at Boise State.

This would end a yearlong run for Bobo with the Gamecocks and a run that would officially last about two weeks for Friend in South Carolina.

Beamer was hired in South Carolina on December 5 and has yet to complete his team. If Auburn were able to hire the Gamecocks coach pair, it would mean that Beamer would have to replace both, along with hiring a defensive coordinator and someone to train the secondary.

Bobo came to South Carolina after the 2019 season, when he was released from Colorado State. Former head coach Will Muschamp brought Bobo to execute his attack, which generated 23.5 points per game against the SEC competition, and good for 10th place in the league.

Friend was out of contract in Tennessee after the 2020 season and Beamer hired one of Bobo’s longtime friends, Friend, to fill the vacant position of offensive line coach on his starting team.
