This Massachusetts College is among the first to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine – NBC Boston

Northeastern University claims to be one of the first colleges in the country to administer doses of the coronavirus vaccine to employees.

Massachusetts sent about 200 doses of Moderna’s vaccine to the school, half of which have already been distributed, officials say.

The state gave the school so that it could give the vaccine to those who fit the first class in the state that qualifies to receive one, which includes health professionals.

Authorities say those who were vaccinated on Tuesday work in the test centers in the Northeast and in their health counseling building. About 100 people have already received the first round of the vaccine.

School officials expect to receive Pfizer and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines, depending on delivery. But as more people arrive, they hope that at some point the school will be able to distribute at least 1,000 doses a day.
