DALLAS – Supporters of President Donald Trump began shouting at other passengers on an American Airlines plane bound for Washington after designing a “Trump 2020” logo on the roof and walls of the cabin.
Trump supporters said a passenger threatened to kill them, and there were screams. A flight attendant intervened, telling a passenger in the hall to sit down.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night after American flight 1291 from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport landed at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, DC, and was taxiing to the gate.
The scene was posted on Twitter by Maranie Staab, an independent journalist from Portland, Oregon, who says on her website that she focuses on human rights and social justice issues.
“Our team is analyzing this incident,” said American Airlines spokesman Curtis Blessing. “We applaud our excellent crew for their professionalism in reducing a tense situation on board and safely taking our customers to their destination.”
American said the police were not called and that passengers disembarked and dispersed without further incident.
