The company also wants to know if its new consoles are “next generation” enough.

Software and gaming giant Microsoft is investigating whether its users want to have some of Sony’s features DualSense PS5 controller in their new Xbox Series X and Series S gamepads.

As reported by TechRadar, the company is asking people who recently bought their Xbox Series X or Series S consoles what they think, including whether the hardware “looks next-generation”. In addition, Microsoft asked users if the PS5 DualSense had any features that they would like to include in the new Xbox controller.

Microsoft’s new gamepad already has a number of features that the PS4’s DualShock 4 had, including a dedicated button for sharing images. The Xbox Series X controller was unveiled in March 2020, with Microsoft saying it was easier to hold.

The DualSense controller has received much praise for the changes it has made, including new and improved tactile feedback and the introduction of adaptive triggers that change resistance depending on what is happening in the game.

We took our first look at DualSense in April last year. At the time the PS5 was released in November 2020, we described the controller as “mind-boggling”.

The gamepad can be used on Steam now too.
