Nearly a dozen teachers and staff at a private school received the vaccination COVID-19 before health professionals and long-term residents due to an error in the email.
On Monday, January 4, The Williams School head of school, Mark Fader, said 11 teachers and staff had taken the vaccine after the school was informed by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that employees were eligible to participate in one of the first rounds of vaccination, reported New London Day.
In response, the school provided a list of teachers and staff to the CDC and all 53 staff received an email with instructions on how to schedule the vaccination.
Williams School in New London offers preparatory education for private college for students in grades 6 through 12.
On December 29, Fader said he learned from the local health council that teachers and school staff received CDC emails in error. It is not clear how this mistake was made.
Williams School warned employees to cancel any vaccination plans, but 11 members had already received treatment. Employees who have taken the first doses of the vaccine will be able to take the second necessary doses.
