The Jackson Health System of Miami is offering consultations to the public for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Jackson Health’s online registration portal opened on Tuesday morning at 11am with about 2,000 daily appointments available, with priority for the elderly.
Just before noon on Tuesday, a Jackson Health spokesman confirmed that the first round of consultations had been completed, with more than 80,000 people registering for the 12,000 consultations.
A further 2,000 commitments are expected to be made available soon, the spokesman said.
“Jackson launched his online COVID vaccine registration portal this morning for anyone over 65 and, as expected, vacancies sold out quickly in less than two hours. We realize that this vaccine is in high demand and we will continue to open more vacancies as we receive additional vaccines, “said Jackson Health in a statement. “As we navigate this unprecedented and logistically complex vaccine distribution, Jackson’s top priority is to inoculate as many eligible people as possible in our community.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the portal during a news conference at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Monday.

DeSantis said Jackson will initially have three community vaccination centers. He said the health system has the capacity to do 10,000 vaccinations a week, but doses of the vaccine may not be available initially.
“Supply is limited and we ask that you be patient with Jackson,” said DeSantis.
DeSantis said Jackson Health is also considering vaccinations at test sites, including Marlins Park.
About 90% of Jackson’s doctors have already received the first dose of the vaccine, said DeSantis. Some workers began to receive the second shot on Monday.
