But if there’s a silver lining in today’s news, it’s that Mojang plans to send Minecraft Earth swag. The studio is releasing a latest update for the game that says it contains changes “to make your time Minecraft Earth as much fun as possible. ”Among other adjustments, the update does away with real money transactions and dramatically reduces the time it takes players to create and build things in the game. It also offers players the chance to see all the content Mojang was working on before today’s announcement. “We hope that these adjustments will allow you to explore, create and build more – while staying safe indoors,” said the studio.
Once June 30 comes and goes, Microsoft will delete player data on July 1. If you spent money on Minecraft Earth at any time during the game’s life, you will receive a token that will allow you to download the Bedrock edition of Minecraft to your mobile device. For Microsoft, this is undoubtedly a disappointing ending for Minecraft Earth. When the game was in action for the first time at WWDC 2019, it was clear that the company had high hopes for the game. The fact Minecraft Earth failing to survive the pandemic, with all of Microsoft’s resources at its disposal, is not a good sign for the future of consumer AR applications.
