Chargers request interviews with 3 main coach candidates

The Chargers fired coach Anthony Lynn on Monday morning and the team is out and running in search of his replacement.

Los Angeles requested interviews with potential candidates for head coach. And as of Monday afternoon, the team placed orders for three possible candidates.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier in the day that LA asked to interview the Titans’ offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith.

Hours later, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Bolts asked to interview Colts’ defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus.

Finally, Michael Silver, Sports Illustrated reported that the Chargers asked to interview Rams’ defensive coordinator, Brandon Staley.

Smith and Eberflus were mentioned on the list of candidates that Los Angeles could consider.

Staley trained the NFL’s best defense during the regular season, while Los Angeles allowed the best in the league, 18.5 points, 281.9 yards and 190.7 passing yards per game.

Los Angeles is expected to interview 10 to 12 candidates. Expect many more candidates to appear in the coming days and weeks.
