OnePlus’s Indian Twitter account is provoking what appears to be the first wearable fitness bracelet. The company claims that the device, which Android Central previously reported will be called the OnePlus Band, it will “help you achieve all your fitness goals and make your life easier”. It also suggested in a subsequent tweet that the band could track sleep. The OnePlus tweet leads to a page on Amazon India that says the device will feature a real-time heart rate tracker.
In a tweet, informant Ishan Agarwal subsequently shared some specs specified for the unannounced device. He says the OnePlus Band will have heart rate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking and 13 integrated exercise modes. In terms of specifications, it will come equipped with a 1.1 inch OLED screen, an IP68 water resistance rating and up to 14 days of battery life. It will cost $ 2,499 (about $ 35) and will launch in India in a week, says Agarwal.
Although the OnePlus teaser images do not show the wearable very clearly, a leak of @stufflistings last month showed how it could be, with a rectangular screen and rubber bracelet.
OnePlus already produces phones, headsets and even TVs in some markets, but the company confirmed that it was looking to enter new product categories during its OnePlus 8T launch event last year. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company also plans to launch a smartwatch earlier this year.
Although OnePlus sells phones around the world, it is notable that both suggestions for its fitness tracker came from its Indian Twitter account, indicating that OnePlus Band could be focused on the Indian market, at least initially.
