43 Kaiser team members test positive for COVID

At least 43 employees in the emergency department of the Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center tested positive for COVID-19 last week, a senior official said on Saturday.

Senior Vice President Irene Chavez said in a statement that the medical center is using contact tracking and will personally notify and test any staff member or patient that has been potentially exposed between December 27 and New Year’s Day.

Chavez said officials continue to investigate the source of the outbreak.

They are also removing employees with positive results, as well as those who have been in contact with a colleague with positive results, Chavez said in a statement.


The Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center remains open.
