The black teenager who was falsely accused of stealing a woman’s phone now needs therapy because the incident scared him seriously … according to his parents.
Keyon Harrold says TMZ … he and his ex-wife, Kat, are currently examining therapists and looking to make their 14-year-old son Keyon Jr. – soon trauma therapy. Keyon (the father) told us that his son is seriously traumatized … and a lot has to do with Miya Ponsetto immediately focusing on it.
Keyon Jr. asked his father a simple question that uncovers several serious problems, including doubts about himself … “Why me?”

Keyon says he raised his son to become a proud black man, saying, “I tried to instill dignity in my son. I am trying to build his ego, because for a long time black men’s egos have been destroyed.”
Keyon feels without professional help, his mission can be torpedoed by Ponsetto’s cruel attack on his son. His father tells us, “He wonders if he is good enough to have an iPhone or if he is out of town.” This, says Keyon, must be cut immediately at the root.

There is also a practical problem. Both parents are musicians and travel a lot, which means that they stay a lot in hotels. Keyon says his son is now showing fear of going to hotels. Keyon Jr. told his father that he is afraid that someone will come up behind him and hit him. He is also afraid of being accused of a crime. In fact, he told his father on the day of the incident that he felt like a criminal.

Keyon is dealing with this with broad strokes … “You definitely belong, wherever you go.”
By the way … long before the incident, Keyon and his son talked about social justice issues and the tragedies of Emmett Till, Michael Brown, George Floyd, and so on.
Ending on a nice note … at the time of this post Keyon Jr. is in a studio with his father and some friends recording music. Jr. is a drummer / producer / composer. But when the father spoke to us on the phone, his son was remaking J. Coleof “Be Free”.
