More than one million people in the United States received the first round of vaccines in the United States. The first competitors Pfizer and Moderna are already discharged in the country and are safe after months of testing. But is there a question as to why children cannot yet receive the Covid-19 vaccine?
Pfizer’s vaccine is valid for 16 years or more, while Moderna is valid for 18 years or more. Although they are safe, care is encouraged by doctors when taking vaccines for people who have had adverse reactions to vaccines in the past or who are allergic to vaccines.
However, vaccines are not for children, as authorized vaccines are not yet tested on children under 12 years old. Vaccines are usually tested on adults first, and once the vaccine is considered safe in adults, it will be tested on children.
Another important reason is that Covid-19 appears to affect adults more than children. According to the CDC report of September last year, there were only 121 children among the 190,000 people who died from the coronavirus.
Also, children are spreading in half compared to adults, although they are major carriers.
Moderna is planning to start pediatric clinical tests on children aged 12 to 17 years soon.
