A group of Republican Party senators led by Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said they would object on Wednesday to certifying the results of the presidential elections that favored Democrat Joe Biden over President Trump – unless there is an audit 10-day emergency results by an election commission.
Cruz and the other senators say the November 3 election “presented unprecedented allegations of electoral fraud and illegal conduct”.
Joining the Cross were Sens. Ron Johnson, R-Wis .; James Lankford, R-Okla .; Steve Daines, R-Mont .; John Kennedy, R-La .; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn. And Mike Braun, R-Ind.; as well as Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo .; Roger Marshall, R-Kansas; Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn. And Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.
Their effort is separate from that announced by Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Who said last week that he would object to what he says is the failure of some states – mainly Pennsylvania – to follow their own electoral laws.
Biden’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20.
