The Elder Scrolls may be the next major game franchise to be adapted for a TV series.
According to an industry member Daniel Ritchtman (£) (thanks, Game Rant), Netflix is looking to adapt the fan favorite franchise in an attempt to capitalize on the success of shows like The Witcher and Castlevania.
Although it is just a rumor at the moment, it is a plausible provocation, not least because we already know that another Bethesda franchise – this time Fallout 4 – already being adapted by Westworld producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan for Amazon. As Bethesda, Microsoft and Netflix have not yet responded to the rumor, however, all we can do is receive the news with a skeptical dose of salt.
In related news, Elder Scrolls 6 may be an exclusive Xbox Series X / PC, Phil Spencer practically confirmed recently.
Spencer was asked about Microsoft’s recent acquisition of ZeniMax, the parent company of Bethesda and id software, the publishers of Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout, Doom and many other high profile franchises. Of course, we all wondered if that meant games like the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6 could be exclusive to Xbox Series X and PC.
“Is it possible to recover an investment of $ 7.5 billion if you don’t sell Elder Scrolls 6 on PlayStation?” Spencer was asked, who responded quickly with “yes”. Spencer elaborates after a pause, remembering to point out that the acquisition of ZeniMax “was not made to take games from another base of players like that”.
