The setting for the long-awaited Elder Scrolls 6 may have been triggered in a tweet of Bethesda’s cryptic map released to the public on New Year’s Eve.
Bethesda may be provoking the scenario of The Elder Scrolls 6 in an enigmatic tweet posted on New Year’s Eve. The newest entry into Bethesda’s beloved open-world RPG franchise was announced in 2018. Since that brief video teaser, the company has kept its mouth shut about any and all information about the new game, leading to widespread speculation about almost every aspect of this. After Microsoft’s recent purchase of Bethesda, there was some concern that the new game would not be available on PlayStation consoles, but the official PlayStation website seemed to end those rumors last month.

One of the most popular things to speculate Elder Scrolls 6 is the question of where the game will take place. The continent of Tamriel hosts several unique and distinctive provinces, each of which would be the ideal setting for the latest launch in the series. The game trailer showed a mountainous landscape and, for the past two years, these mountains have been obsessed with fans eager to learn more about Elder Scrolls 6.
Now it seems that they received a powerful tip from none other than Bethesda itself. On New Year’s Eve, the company posted a very mysterious tweet on Elder Scrolls account (courtesy of Game Rant) The tweet invited fans to “Transcribe the past and map the future”, and included a map of the province of Skyrim, recognizable to fans as the scene of great success Elder Scrolls game of the same name. Fans have noticed several notable details of the map that could point to the scenario of the next game. For example, one of the three candles on the map is placed over the province of Hammerfell, a potential scenario for the new game. Another candle is placed over the city of Solidão, indicating some importance for the region which is supported by a coin minted with the emblem of the city. It is hard to believe that Bethesda would score two consecutive games in Skyrim province, but as Solitude also serves as the region’s capital, it may have some political importance in the history of Elder Scrolls 6.
Of course, there is also a chance that this is a wild goose hunt. Bethesda may be celebrating the New Year by reflecting on one of its most successful games. It is certainly celebrated Skyrim over and over again, re-launching it on several video game consoles. The enigmatic nature of this New Year’s tweet and the open invitation to map the future seem to strongly contradict this interpretation; if this is just a New Year celebration, it was very poorly formulated.
There is a lot of uncertainty about Elder Scrolls 6, and Bethesda did not appear. The public is guaranteed that the game will feature the company’s biggest engine update in 14 years, but as exciting as this revelation is, it doesn’t tell fans when the game will be released, or even on which consoles it will be on. This New Year’s tweet does not provide exactly all the information about The Elder Scrolls 6, but at least it gives fans something to fix while they wait for real news.
