One of the Good things that emerged in 2020 along with a plethora of great video games on all platforms, was the buzz surrounding the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and DOOM Eternal. Both games shared the same release date and, thanks to the internet, a flood of memes and art made by fans quickly appeared to celebrate the occasion. It looks like the social media team that manages the official DOOM Twitter account had some fun and posted a cute photo of Doom Guy and Isabelle hand in hand with the caption ‘Happy New Horizons’.
Of course, the comment section is full of wishes from Smash Bros. and things like that, but still, it’s great to see such a big franchise gain fame on the internet with a simple but effective photo to celebrate the start of a new year in a fun way.
Nintendo in true Nintendo style has not done anything similar (yet). Perhaps this year is the year that Big N’s social media team embraces memes and trends … we can only wait!
