Pennsylvania MP Mike Reese died on Saturday afternoon after suffering an apparent cerebral aneurysm, his family announced.
Reese – elected in 2008 to serve parts of Westmoreland and Somerset counties – was 42 years old. He leaves his wife Angela and three children.
“On behalf of the entire Republican Caucus in the House, I extend our deepest condolences and condolences to Rep. Mike Reese’s family,” said House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff in a statement. More than a friend to all of us, and one of our caucus leaders, Mike was a dedicated husband and father. His wife, three young children and relatives are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Reese was elected republican president of the caucus for the 2020–21 session. He announced in early December that he was quarantined after the test was positive for the coronavirus. It is not clear whether his death was related to the virus.
“I have known Mike since he took office in 2009 and I am proud to witness his many legislative achievements, especially his tireless work on behalf of Pennsylvania students and families. Mike was a model legislator who thoughtfully put his constituents first, ”said Benninghoff. “Your spirit, presence and advice will be sorely missed.”
