Tracking all signatories in the initial subscription period

South Carolina football will sign the first 2021 members this week.

South Carolina is in a transition period, with the introduction of new coach Shane Beamer to the program at the beginning of the hiring period. Beamer’s first class is likely to be small, as almost half of the originally compromised class fled after Will Muschamp left.

Still, a handful of commits are resisting, vowing allegiance to the university, rather than the leader in charge.

In all, it looks like Gamecocks will have four potential customers signed up at the start, with a few others intending to sign official letters of intent during the initial subscription period.

Stay tuned as we follow Shane Beamer’s first class in Columbia.

# 1

Colten Gauthier

QB University of South Carolina

7:30 am – Gauthier became the first 2021 commit on the boat, signing his LOI on Wednesday morning. The quarterback prospect is classified as a four star player by Rivals, and the 13th best signal player in the country.

Gauthier is the best ranked player in the 2021 Gamecocks class and can compete early with passers Ryan Hilinski and Luke Doty for playing time next season.

# two

Marcellas Dial

DB University of South Carolina

8:30 am – Dial, a defensive back from Georgia Military College, becomes the second signer in class 2021. Originally from Woodruff, SC, the JUCO transfer returns to its home state to join the Gamecock program.

Last season at the GMC, Dial recorded 11 tackles and a choice. He is ranked as the 48th best Junior College candidate in the country and chose Gamecocks over East Carolina.

# 3

Jordan Davis

OL University of South Carolina

10:00 – Davis becomes the third signatory of the day, and the first along the offensive line. The Georgia native is considered a three-star prospect and chose Gamecocks over offers from Georgia Tech and Kansas.

# 4

Sam Reynolds

WR University of South Carolina

11:00 – Reynolds gets on the boat, becoming the fourth player to sign. Alabama’s wide receiver could end up being a dynamic ace for Gamecocks, with the potential to play in multiple positions.

As a Thompson High veteran, Reynolds ran for 291 yards and seven points, while also collecting 26 receptions for 465 yards and six more touchdowns. The performance helped his team win the state title.

Also an athletics athlete, Reynolds chose Gamecocks over offers from Middle Tennessee State and West Virginia.

# 5

Omega Blake

WR University of South Carolina

11:30 am – Blake becomes the fifth player on the stock exchange, as the Rock Hill wide receiver, SC signed on Wednesday morning. Blake, a South Pointe High participant, is trained by former Gamecock Devonte Holloman. Notable gamecocks from South Pointe are Holloman, Stephon Gilmore and Jadeveon Clowney.

The native of the state of Palmetto is considered the sixth best player in his home state, choosing the Gamecocks between the finalists Louisville and Virginia Tech. He also had offers from Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, NC State, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Texas Tech, among others.

As a veteran, Blake accumulated 12 touchdowns when playing both receiver and quarterback.

# 6

Juju McDowell

RB University of South Carolina

2:00 pm – McDowell is the sixth signatory of the day, and a surprise that the technical committee is not sure if he would sign today or wait until February. Fortunately for Gamecocks, he chose to keep his promise and make it official.

Running back was originally committed to the state of North Carolina, before changing his mind and going to South Carolina in June.

The three-star prospect is the country’s 13th best multifunctional, and it could provide Gamecocks with another weapon off the field. As a senior, he showed his double threat skills, running for 800 yards and 14 points, while also making 10 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns. He also has the potential to impact special teams, where he can become a candidate for punts and kickoffs.

# 7

user Barrett

DL University of South Carolina

4:30 pm – Barrett becomes second defensive signatory in the class, and the first over the first seven. The 6-foot-3, 320-pound tackle is classified as a three-star recruit and the 39th best player in the state of North Carolina.

Barrett could end up being one of the most underrated additions in the class, holding offers from major shows like Penn State, Tennessee and Ole Miss. He remained loyal to the Gamecocks, however, even during the change of coach.

The Tar Heel State native was unable to play this fall as North Carolina decided to postpone high school football until spring, but he registered a large number as a junior. In that 2019 season, Barrett counted 70 falls, including 15 sacks.

# 8

JonDarius Morgan

OL University of South Carolina

9 pm – O final signee of the day, JonDarius Morgan made it official Wednesday night. The lineman is classified as a three-star prospect and chose Gamecocks over offers from the state of Arizona, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Syracuse.
