With January coming, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players encounter a different batch of fish, insects and sea creatures around their islands.
There is no rush to pick up any of them, as most of them will stay for much longer than a month, but be sure to donate any new finds to Blathers to complete your Museum. You can tell when you picked up a new creature because your character will exclaim “Yes!” before saying the name of the insect or fish.
You can also check your Critterpedia to see if you donated the insect fish or not. If so, there will be a small owl icon next to the creature’s name. (Note that these badges will not appear if you are on someone else’s island.)
Unfortunately, the northern hemisphere islands are not receiving new creatures in January. You can see the list of creatures in the southern hemisphere moving below. Remember that some of them are returning to your island after they become available, so if they look familiar, you probably picked them up during a previous availability.
