South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster tested positive for coronavirus on Monday and will work from home during quarantine, his office said in a statement on Tuesday, as cases and hospitalizations are increasing in the state.

He will receive treatment with monoclonal antibodies on Tuesday based on his doctor’s advice.

McMaster has been in quarantine since last Friday, when his wife, First Lady Peggy McMaster, discovered that the test was positive and will continue for ten days.

There were 275,733 coronavirus cases in South Carolina as of Sunday, according to the Covid Tracking Project, with more than 2,000 new cases every day since December 3. More than 1,500 people were treated for coronavirus in state hospitals on Sunday and there were at least 1,000 coronavirus patients in the hospital every day since December 3. On Sunday, 324 patients with coronavirus were in intensive care units and 165 on ventilators.
