The domestic part of the 2020 season ended on Saturday with another loss to the University of South Carolina.
A punitive racing game for 9th place Georgia, led the Gamecocks to a 45-16 loss at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The Bulldogs (6-2) have accumulated 332 running yards, led by 104 yards and 2 James Cook touchdowns. Defensively, Gamecocks were limited to 83 running yards after losing their fifth consecutive game.
It was a career night for quarterback Luke Doty and tight end Nick Muse. Doty made 18-22 for 190 yards and a touchdown for Muse, who took 8 passes for 131 yards in the final at home.
Georgia jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter. His first drive saw the tight end Travis McKitty with 2 receptions of 40 yards and 6 yards to place Bulldogs on the board.
James Cook scored in a 5-yard run in the next ball possession and Zamir White closed the first quarter by scoring the race with a 22-yard touchdown with 2:23 left.
South Carolina managed to mount an 8-point, 65-yard campaign to close the first quarter. The 2nd quarter started with Kevin Harris’ 1 yard race to place the Gamecocks on the board.
Parker White’s 40-yard field goal put South Carolina 21-10.
Georgia responded with its dominant racing game. This time, James Cook ran untouched by the Gamecock defense for a 29-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs at 28-10.
South Carolina seemed to score before the break, but White’s 53-yard attempt missed to the right of the vertical.
After forcing South Carolina to kick in his first possession in the second half, Georgia’s Kearis Jackson returned football 51 yards to the 13-yard line. It took 3 moves for Bulldogs’ White to score 3 yards for his second touchdown of the game.
A 32-yard field goal from Jack Podlesny extended the lead to 38-10 with 4:26 remaining in the third quarter.
An interception by Tyson Campbell from Georgia set up another Georgia scoreboard to open the 4th period. Quarterback JT Daniels met freshman Arian Smith for a 31-yard touchdown reception.
The South Carolina attack brought together its biggest scoring campaign of the season. Starting with their own 2, Gamecocks directed 11 moves to set up Doty’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Muse.
PAT was blocked and Georgia kept the ball in the remaining minutes.
South Carolina closes the regular season in Kentucky. No schedule or view has been announced at this time.
